Numbness: Chapter 2
About Numbness: Chapter 2
New Ohio Theatre and One-Eighth Theater present a tragicomedy of the unfelt.
Imagine a world where you feel nothing. Numbness: Chapter 2 examines this world in two parts.
Black Water, by Sylvia Bofill, presents an apocalyptic puzzle. In a laboratory/kitchen, a couple collects ash and tries to stay awake, hoping to see their mute daughter once more. Outside, dead bodies lie on the shore and the sun hides, creating confusion and chaos. Will the couple find a way to survive, make meaning, or escape?
In Yovo, by Robert Lyons, a plane crash victim waits for the birth of the post-post-post.
The New York Times has hailed One-Eighth’s work as "thrillingly kaleidoscopic and boldly physical. An athletic whirl of manic energy." Numbness: Chapter 2 premieres as part of the Archive Residency, a partnership between the New Ohio and IRT Theater, that gives artists a home to develop bold new work over 2 years.
