About The Art of the Quintet
The ensemble of two violins, a viola, and cello—the string quartet—is to chamber music as pasta is to Italian cooking: add any good ingredient for a delicious meal. This uncommon program features three disparate and beautiful sonorities of the string quartet augmented by a trio of contrasting instrumental voices, performed by an equally rich assemblage of CMS artists.
Alexi Kenney, Sean Lee, violin; Misha Amory, Yura Lee, viola; Nicholas Canellakis, David Finckel, cello; and Tommaso Lonquich, clarinet will perform Mozart’s Quintet in E-flat major for Two Violins, Two Violas, and Cello, K. 614, Reicha’s Quintet in B-flat major for Clarinet, Two Violins, Viola, and Cello, Op. 89, and Glazunov’s Quintet in A major for Two Violins, Viola, and Two Cellos, Op. 39.
Recommended for ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 5 are not allowed at performances.
