Golden Girls LIVE: The "Lost" Christmas Episode
About Golden Girls LIVE: Christmas
Golden Girls LIVE was created by Peter Mac and John Mac as a loving tribute in the style of Brady Bunch LIVE, and created a loving drag PARODY of everyone's favorite sitcom.
The shows uses spot on impersonations of the original Actresses as source material (they play Estelle Getty and Beatrice Arthur respectively) and creating original parody situations, they realized that there was an audience to relive and attend a live taping of this revered sitcom.
America loved the long-running NBC sitcom The Golden Girls, tuning in weekly to laugh at the bawdy antics and hilarious quips of geriatric roomies Dorothy, Blanche, Rose and Sophia. Now, you can be a live audience member at NYC's Producers Club for an affectionate parody with an all-male cast portraying the silver-haired ladies live on stage as if they'd never left their Miami home. Enjoy an episode that never was: "The Lost Christmas Episode." This loving and hilarious homage to the (mostly) gray-haired gals includes their Christmas recollections.
Tell Me More
This fierce foursome has been anything but old-fashioned, and now the Golden Girls are back — and as bold as can be — in Off-Broadway’s “Golden Girls LIVE: The ‘Lost’ Christmas Episode.” And who better to take on the iconic quartet than a group of guys — in drag — who love no one more than the elderly gals? Starring Tim Garnham as Rue McClanahan’s Blanche, Anastas Varinos as Betty White’s Rose, D.J. Schaefer as Bea Arthur’s Dorothy, and Peter Mac as Estelle Getty’s Sophia, the cast celebrates their 15th year of performing the popular parody.
Writers Peter and John Mac recreated the NBC sitcom for the stage production, which has toured the country for years. In “The ‘Lost’ Christmas Episode,” written by Peter Mac, the all-male cast spreads holiday cheer from the sassy single ladies with a 70-minute “Golden Girls” reunion TV audiences never got. Expect to be transported back to their Miami home and party like it’s 1992.
