About Stephane Wrembel & Thor Jensen

Remember the charming theme music in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, or the sultry guitar in Vicky Cristina Barcelona? If so, you already know Stephane Wrembel, whom The New York Observer praises as "the living face of Gypsy jazz.” In an evening performing tunes he scored for Woody Allen's films along with his other original music, Wrembel presents a new perspective on some of the sizzling jazz and pop music of the Parisian avant garde, in particular, the Hot Club of Django Reinhardt.

Wrembel states, ""I like to believe that my music is beyond any one genre and that there is something in it for everyone. It's not only for the rock music lover, or for the Django lover; it's not only for the jazz lover, or for just young people or old people. It's for the music lover. The Django Experiment is a re-exploration of my roots as a Gypsy jazz guitarist, a tribute to Django Reinhardt, revisited with a new sound and years of integration of new musical information—sort of Django meets NYC meets the world. It is actually extremely traditional and extremely non-traditional at the same time. What's important is the use of colors and sounds over his music that has not been done before."
