About Stravinsky's Petrushka
At a first glance, you might assume that acclaimed French conductor Ludovic Morlot had crafted a lovely French program to share with our Principal Concertmaster Martin Chalifour. Then you notice the Russian, Stravinsky – well, you’d still be correct, because "Petrushka" was composed specifically for Parisian ballet fans. Violinist Martin Chalifour is soloist for two lyrical favorites, by Chausson and Massenet, and Morlot leads Stravinsky’s boisterous, delightful, and ultimately poignant ballet score.
