Tina Turner has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history. This new musical is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd.
Presented in association with Tina Turner.
Tell Me More
“Tina” follows the journey of the multi-awarding artist from her humble early life in Nutbush, Tenn., to her abusive relationship with Ike Turner, her struggle to launch her solo career, and her record-breaking concert in Rio de Janeiro. Despite the hardships she endured, this new stage production is anything but a sob story. It delves into how much of her Buddhist beliefs helped her cope with the suffering she experienced.
Although Tina’s life has been well documented in her memoir and the biopic “What’s Love Got to Do with It?”, “Tina” offers a unique take on the star’s life. With all her hit songs from “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and “Proud Mary” to “The Best” and “What’s Love Got to Do With It?”, this uplifting celebration of Tina’s life is set against a heartfelt story of strength and determination. Written by Olivier Award-winner Katori Hall (“The Mountaintop”) and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd (“Mamma Mia”), this empowering show features an enormously talented cast, led by the acclaimed Tony-nominated actor Adrienne Warren as Tina.
