From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Tina Turner didn’t just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race.
Tina Turner has won 11 Grammy Awards and her live shows have been seen by millions, with more concert tickets sold than any other solo performer in music history. This new musical is written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Katori Hall and directed by the internationally acclaimed Phyllida Lloyd.

Built in 1905, the Aldwych has housed many famous productions since its opening including the first performance of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard in England, A Streetcar Named Desire starring Vivien Leigh, Tom Stoppard’s Jumpers, Hapgood and Indian Ink all featuring Felicity Kendall, Tom and Clem starring Sir Michael Gabon and Alec McCowen and Amy’s View with Dame Judi Dench. In the 2000s it became a popular musical theatre venue housing Fame, Dancing in the Streets and Dirty Dancing which became the longest running show at the Aldwych achieving five years at the theatre.
