About Exposing Edith
Exposing Edith is a breathtaking cabaret tale about the greatest French singer of all time, Edith Piaf.
Experience the legendary French icon's life, loves and losses through the songs that shot her to stardom such as 'La Vie En Rose' and 'Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien' alongside lesser-known gems, all interlinked with an extraordinary collection of touching stories of the singer's life as recounted by Burger, who takes on a multitude of key characters, from Edith’s half-sister Momone to Edith Piaf herself.
Created and performed by Helpmann Award-nominated cabaret artists Michaela Burger (vocals) and Greg Wain (guitar), Exposing Edith is a stunning mix of masterful storytelling, authentic vintage French pop and contemporary sounds, all performed live using voice, acoustic guitar and the subtle use of effect pedals.
Burger has been dubbed Australia’s very own ‘Little Sparrow’; with a voice of ‘uncanny beauty’ she sings most of the songs in French and, being only 2cm taller than Piaf and dressed in her trademark black, bears an uncanny resemblance to the legendary French star.
Exposing Edith was awarded Best Cabaret at the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival and nominated for the Cabaret Award at Fringe World 2016, and has played multiple sold-out seasons across Australasia, including standing ovations at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Auckland International Cabaret Festival and Melbourne Cabaret Festival.
