About Scheherazade

The New Texas Symphony Orchestra is beginning its 15th year of presenting a season of entertaining concerts for music lovers. Our 2018-2019 season, SNAPSHOTS is no exception. Join us for Sundays at the Symphony, an afternoon of great orchestral music presented at the Moody Performance Hall in the Dallas Arts District. Concert repertoire includes two works by Leonard Bernstein, and features the well-known symphony Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.

Scheherazade evokes the Oriental magic of “1001 Arabian Nights”, where each night Scheherazade weaves mesmerizing tales for the cruel Sultan in order to save her life and win his heart. The symphonic suite tells the stories of Sinbad the sailor, a Kalendar prince, a young prince and princess, a Bagdad festival, and climaxes with a crashing shipwreck.

Our concerts are open seating, so the best seats in the house can be yours! Additionally, all children and youth 18 and under are admitted free with a paid admission.
