Ballet Chicago's The Nutcracker
About The Nutcracker
Through its inspiring story, beautiful music, and charming choreography, The Nutcracker is a celebration of the joyous holiday season. Every year The Nutcracker takes us on an unforgettable journey with young Marie as she travels from her home on Christmas Eve to the Kingdom of Snow and the Land of the Sweets. For adults, it is a time to relive cherished memories of childhood. For children who wait with breathless anticipation for the holidays to arrive, it is the opportunity to create new memories. For everyone, it is a time for sharing and giving among family and friends.
Ballet Chicago’s Nutcracker, one of the city’s favorite holiday events, is performed by more than 120 Ballet Chicago students, ranging in age from three to adult!
The production features dazzling sets and costumes to match the charming and inventive choreography of Artistic Director Daniel Duell, Associate Artistic Director Patricia Blair and Ballet Chicago Resident Choreographer Ted Seymour.
Please note there are two Nutcracker presentations, the Hybrid Stream and the Archival Stream. The Hybrid show will includes 12 restaged and socially distanced dances filmed safely from the Athenaeum Theatre. The Archival Stream features fully intact historic archival performances.
