Streamed Performance: Where the Mountain Meets the Sea
About Streamed Performance: Where the Mountain Meets the Sea
Though live performances of "Where the Mountain Meets the Sea" at Actors Theatre of Louisville were canceled as part of the community's efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the theater is thrilled to offer audiences the chance to experience the show from home through this video recorded performance of the world premiere play with music. The theater is offering tickets to their streamed performance in a "Pay What You Can" style so that you can choose your price based on what you can afford and how many people will be watching with you. Your ticket purchase goes directly back to supporting the theater as they plan for the future.
Setting off from Miami, a Haitian immigrant named Jean takes a once-in-a-lifetime road trip out west. Decades later, his son Jonah heads east, following Jean’s route in reverse—and discovering he’s inherited his father’s love of Appalachian folk music. Separated by time, yet side by side, the two men trace their journeys and the complicated bond they share. With lyrical storytelling and live music, this play vividly imagines how a father and son who longed to connect might come to see each other at last.
