Peregrine Theatre Ensemble opens the show at Provincetown’s newly renovated Fishermen Hall.
CHICAGO, with music by John Kander, Lyrics by Fred Ebb, and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, follows murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart who find themselves on death row together and fight for the fame that will keep them from the gallows in 1920s. As the opening prologue states, “Ladies and Gentleman. You are about to witness a story of murder, greed, corruption, violence, exploitation, adultery and treachery. All the things we all hold near and dear to our hearts.” Chicago. The musical has found worldwide success earning 6 TONY Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a Grammy, and the Oscar for best picture.
