More information about 42nd Street

A Broadway classic, 42nd Street is lighting up the stage of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Featuring iconic musical theatre standards, like “We’re In The Money” and "I Only Have Eyes for You”, this musical is big, brassy and is your ticket to a great night out.

Peggy Sawyer is a young dancer who dreams of being on Broadway. Just off the bus from Pennsylvania, fresh faced Peggy is new in town and needs to find a job, when she stumbles in late to an audition for the musical, Pretty Lady. Not making a great first impression, Peggy soon catches the director’s attention with her incredible dance skills and lands a role in the chorus. But the trouble is just beginning for the show, when prima donna Dororthy Brock arrives wanting the leading role. It doesn’t hurt that her boyfriend is willing to finance the show if she gets the part.

Egos run wild, insults fly and there’s as much drama backstage as there is onstage! But when the cast of Pretty Lady need to replace Dorothy with Peggy after she breaks her leg, they’ll have to push harder than ever before. After all, the show must go on!

With some of the biggest dance numbers you’ll ever see on stage, 42nd Street is the spectacular you’ve been waiting to see in the West End!

What to watch for

The Duchess of Cambridge attended the show in April 2017 as the Royal Patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices.

Princess Kate was also presented with a pair of golden tap shoes during her visit!
