The Seattle International Dance Festival (SIDF) celebrates its 18th year with nine days of performances, over 100 artists and 20 different dance troupes from all over the globe. The beehive of creativity starts buzzing on June 10th with an opening night kickoff event (Program A) by guest curator, Donald Byrd. He presents his own work with Olympic Ballet Theater, together with AZOTH Dance Theater (France). The festival closes June 18 (Program C) with guest curator Eva Stone presenting works by Price Suddarth and his new company, JUMPKUT and NYC dance world transplant, Emily Schoen Branch, along with Khambatta Dance Company and Victoria Gutierrez (Mexico/Seattle). Over 20 dance works will be presented over the course of the festival; musical collaborations and international exchanges abound with themes that range from the amusing to the penetrating and impactful. Topics include everything from packing boxes to dark romanticism, and even parenthood.
