In addition to regular tickets, there are two VIP ticket types. Premium tickets include petite tipples and treats, and Cleopatra's Upgrade tickets include a cocktail with gin, champagne rosé, and lychee caviar plus treats. Both ticket types guarantee best available front row or table seating. Themed drinks and treats are also available for purchase for all audience members.

Cocktail Magique in New York is the latest production from Company XIV, which is known for its variety shows that mix highbrow entertainment, like opera and ballet, with lowbrow entertainment, like circus and burlesque. These shows aren’t like traditional musicals with dialogue, songs, and a clear plot, but a central theme connects all the acts within each show. Company XIV’s last show, Seven Sins, had song, dance, and acrobatic performances inspired by the seven deadly sins and the fall of Adam and Eve, and its annual holiday show, Nutcracker Rouge, is loosely inspired by the characters and world of the Nutcracker Christmas story.

Austin McCormick, a director, choreographer, and nightlife impresario, founded Company XIV in 2007 after training at the Juilliard School and The Conservatory of Baroque Dance — hence why all of Company XIV’s shows have a neo-baroque aesthetic. He conceives and directs all of the company’s productions and has been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards for his work: for Best Choreography for Rococo Rouge, and for Unique Theatrical Experience for Nutcracker Rouge. Outside Company XIV, his choreography has been performed at the Kennedy Center, the Metropolitan Opera, Alvin Ailey Dance Theatre, and many more iconic venues.

What to watch for

• At Company XIV’s shows, the performers mingle with the audience and act as bartenders and servers before and after the show, and during intermissions.
• If your ticket includes drinks and treats, you won’t just get a voucher to redeem — the libations are delivered to you in creative ways, all as part of the show.
• Cocktail Magique is baroque-inspired, but what does that actually mean? The baroque art movement of the 17th century included art, dance, music, poetry, and more, and baroque works are defined by opulent details and deep colors, in the case of art, and flowery language and lots of different melodies in the case of song. Opera and classical ballet — which are often part of Company XIV’s shows — also originated during this time, too!
