Tony Award winners Rebecca Taichman (Indecent) and Enda Walsh (Once) bring John Carney’s “funny, joyful, and effortlessly cool” indy hit film Sing Street to the stage direct from its sold out engagement at New York Theatre Workshop.
Dublin, 1982. Everyone is out of work. Thousands are seeking bluer skies across the Irish Sea. Sixteen-year-old Conor and his schoolmates turn to music to escape troubles at home and impress a mysterious girl. With a score that embraces the new wave sounds of the era, Sing Street celebrates the thrill of first love and the power of music.
Sing Street tells the story of a teenage boy named Conor who forms a band with his classmates to impress a mysterious girl he fancies named Raphina. While they write and perform original music (and even film some music videos!), the band forms a camaraderie that helps them through the struggles and hardships of being teen boys in ‘80s Dublin, Ireland. Together, they balance Ireland’s recession, abuse at their Christian Brothers school, Synge Street, and young love. Get Sing Street tickets on TodayTix.
