About Made In China 2.0

Wang Chong 王翀 is recognised around the world as one of Beijing’s most significant theatre directors, celebrated for his visionary experiments with classic and contemporary plays.

Following the sell-out success of Lachlan Philpott’s Little Emperors 小皇帝 in 2017, Chong returns to Malthouse Theatre and collaborates with co-director Emma Valente to shine the spotlight on his own experiences as an artist. In this intimate and unexpected solo, Chong takes us deep inside his creative risk-taking to share a personal manifesto for making trailblazing art back home and abroad.

Part pop culture lecture, part dramatic performance, Made In China 2.0 is a moving examination of the role of the artist and provocateur in uncertain times.
