About Everybody's Talking About Jamie

Don’t wait for tomorrow, book your tickets today. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will pause its West End run at the Apollo Theatre on 26 September before returning in 2022.

Inspired by a true story, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is the award-winning hit musical for today - bang up to date, more relevant than ever and specially updated for the times we live in today.

Jamie New is sixteen and lives on a council estate in Sheffield. Jamie doesn’t quite fit in.

Jamie is terrified about the future. He is going to be a sensation. Supported by his brilliant loving mum and surrounded by his friends, Jamie overcomes prejudice, beats the bullies and steps out of the darkness, into the spotlight.

Noah Thomas, Melissa Jacques, Sejal Keshwala, Hiba Elchikhe, Gillian Ford and Phil Nichol as Hugo/Loco Chanelle, lead a twenty-five strong company and a nine-piece band that will ‘sweep you away on a tide of mischief, warmth and exuberance’ (Financial Times).

With ‘songs that have the wow factor’ (The Times) by lead singer-songwriter of The Feeling, Dan Gillespie Sells, and ‘hilarious’ book and lyrics ‘with delightful punch’ (Whatsonstage), by writer Tom MacRae, this funny, feel-good, musical sensation is your much-needed glitter in the grey.

Tell Me More

The Everybody’s Talking About Jamie musical tells the story of teenager Jamie and his secret desire to become a fabulous drag queen. When a teacher asks their year 11 class what they want to be when they’re older, Jamie admits he wants to be a performer but is told to get his head out of the clouds and get real. However his adoring mother, Margaret, has always had Jamie’s back and presents him with a pair of red high-heels for his birthday. Just like Dorothy's red shoes, they're the catalyst for change. Jamie now has what he needs to be his true self and come out of the closet with his drag character, Mimi Me! Join Jamie New in a journey of self-discovery and book Everybody's Talking About Jamie tickets in London now.

Facing down school bully, Dean, Jamie finds support in his friends, family and drag community, helping him to step confidently into the world as his true self. The uplifting message of self-acceptance has touched the hearts of London audiences and the positive representation of both gay and muslim characters has been highly praised too. It’s a musical about loving yourself and learning that you are beautiful, inside and outside, no matter what you wear.

The songs in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie hit the highs of recognisable, energetic pop tracks but also have the emotional depths of an iconic piece of musical theatre. There’s more than a few songs that you can strut your stuff to for weeks after seeing the show! So go back to school with Jamie New and get ready to be talking about Jamie.
