It’s that time of year where caroling abounds, the ugly Christmas sweaters are out, and of course, there’s plenty of festive theater to see.

Whether you want to see something family-friendly or something with a bit of a bite, our Naughty and Nice lists will point you in the right direction. Read on below to see what sweet shows in D.C. made our Nice List.

1. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe


Join Adventure Theatre for this snowy, holiday classic featuring just a two-person cast! Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy are sent to live in the countryside home of professor Digory Kirke and discover a magical new world just beyond the wardrobe doors. 2. Black Nativity

3. The Second Shepherd’s Play

This magical retelling of the nativity story combines beautiful music and a moving story for the holiday season. 4. Sleeping Beauty

5. The Secret Garden

Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon’s Drama Desk and Tony Award®-winning musical based on the beloved children’s book, The Secret Garden is a story of hardship turned into hope, of beauty discovered in unlikely places, the power of the child’s imagination and the wisdom that accompanies growing up. 6. Carousel
