About Seattle Public Theatre at The Bathhouse

Originally Seattle Public Theatre was a small company that primarily toured plays in local Seattle public schools and worked with adult and at-risk youth populations to create socially conscious theater. In 2000, it was chosen by the City of Seattle in a competitive bidding process to be the resident theater company at the historic Bathhouse. In 2013 Seattle Public Theatre was nominated for a Gregory Award for Best Theater and in 2014 was awarded the 50/50 Applause Award for producing half of our season with women playwrights. In 2015, artistic growth on Mainstage resulted in the largest revenue-producing season yet, the Youth Stage premiered new plays by local playwrights and began to focus on achieving equity and diversity among artists. Seattle Public Theatre make it a priority to hire and develop Seattle regional artists and promote diversity, foster the happiness, excellence and continued education of thier staff and board and provide exceptional service and hospitality to thier patrons.
