We’re always sad to see some of our favourites leave the West End but we’re excited to welcome the new productions coming our way. Barber Shop Chronicles – This new play by Inua Ellams chronicles the sharing of stories and news by African men in the comforting, communal setting of the local barber shop.

Bat Out Of Hell – Based on the music of Meat Loaf, Bat Out of Hell follows a group of young rebels trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic landscape.

Blondel – Created by Tim Rice and Stephen Oliver, originally appeared on the West End in 1983. Blondel is the story of a court Minstrel in the time of the crusades who finds the courage to fight for the absent King Richard and his love, Fiona.

Gloria – Colin Morgan (Merlin) and Sian Clifford (Fleabag) star in this comic drama about office politics and ambition in a New York magazine office.

Hamlet – Andrew Scott (Sherlock) stars as Shakespeare’s Danish prince in this critically-acclaimed Almeida transfer of Hamlet.

King Kong – Using no technical magic, the giant ape King Kong will come to the Vaults theatre this Summer with a comic twist.

Lady Day at the Emerson Bar & Grill – Multiple Tony Award-winner Audra McDonald makes her West End debut in Lady Day… She’ll play troubled jazz singer Billie Holiday, performing her iconic songs like “What a Little Moonlight Can Do” and “Strange Fruit.”

Queen Anne – Set in 1702, Queen Anne deals with deceit and blackmail and shifting allegiances. Can she sacrifice her closest relationships for the sake of the country?

Rotterdam -As Alice accepts her lesbian identity, her girlfriend announces their gender transition, causing the couple to question everything. The Olivier Award-winning play Rotterdam questions what it means to live by a label and living with the consequences of speaking your truth.

Taj Express – Combining traditional Bollywood numbers with contemporary choreography, Taj Express is a sensational Summer hit.

Tape Face – Experience the charming, hilarious and silent talents of Tape Face. Don’t miss this unique performer and his critically-acclaimed comedy.

The Ferryman – Directed by Sam Mendes (Skyfall) and written by Jez Butterworth, this Royal Court transfer of The Ferryman is the story of an Irish town preparing for an annual festival. Only this year, an unexpected visitor will be joining them.

The Mentor – Two writer’s egos go head-to-head in a battle of wits in The Mentor. A young rising star needs the help of an elder statesman of literature and the pair butt heads over fame and fortune.

Working – A portrait of the average American work day, Stephen Schwartz’s Working shows the tough daily grind and the hope everybody needs to get through it.

July

Apologia – Stockard Channing (Grease) will star in Apologia as a matriarch dealing with her dysfunctional sons during family birthday celebrations. A £15 Rush will also be available for this show!

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof – Tennessee Williams’ iconic play Cat On A Hot Tin Roof returns to London with Sienna Miller and Skins star Jack O’Connell. In the suffocating heat of the South, a strained marriage comes under the microscope.

Dessert – A banker and his wife host a lavish dinner party for their rich American friends. As the evening goes on, things take a turn for the sinister. Catch Dessert at the Southwark Playhouse.

Disco Pigs – Two teenagers locked in their own world come crashing into reality. Harry Potter‘s Evanna Lynch joins the coming of age play, Disco Pigs, at the Trafalgar Studios.

Don Quixote – The love between Kitri and Basilio is challenged as Kitri’s father desperately attempts to engineer a more lucrative match for his daughter, no matter how unwilling she is. See Don Quixote at the Royal Opera House.

Gangsta Granny – David Walliams‘ beloved children’s story Gangsta Granny comes to the stage this Summer. Young Ben thinks staying with his Granny will be super boring, but Ben doesn’t know about her wild side!

Girl From The North Country – Set in the 1930s to the music of Bob Dylan, Girl From The North Country is the story of a community desperate to pull itself out of a tough time.

I Love Lucy Live On Stage – Find yourself transported to the height of TV comedy in a 1950s episode of I Love Lucy. See the crazy antics of the accident-prone comedienne Lucille Ball in this nostalgic comedy.

Oliver Twist (Created for everyone six and over) – Charles Dickens’ classic story Oliver Twist follows an orphan searching for his place in the world, running into colourful and sometimes dangerous characters. Aimed at a wider audience, this production will make the story more accessible to younger children, so it would make a great family day out.

Swan Lake – Tchaikovsky’s breathtaking music is combined with stunning choreography from The Mariinsky Ballet company. Swan Lake is a timeless tale of Prince Siegfried and the swan-princess Odette, conquering dark forces with their love for each other.

The Hunting Of The Snark – Based on the poem of the same name by Lewis Carroll, enter a world of fantasy, magical creatures and silliness with this wonderful children’s show.

Yerma – The award-winning Yerma returns to the Young Vic, complete with Billie Piper returning as the tragic but desperate Her, determined to have a child, no matter what the cost.

August

Against – Ben Whishaw (Skyfall) stars in Christopher Shinn’s new play Against. Silicon Valley billionaire Luke has designs on the future of mankind and is helped by the voice of God. Will his dreams become reality or turn into a nightmare.

Five Guys Named Moe – If you’re looking for an upbeat, feel-good show, look no further than Five Guys Named Moe! It will play at the new Marble Arch Theatre and features swing and jazz, hits like “Choo, Choo, Ch’boogie” and “Ain’t Nobody Here But Us Chickens”.

Follies – Stephen Sondheim’s musical Follies will star Tracie Bennett (Mrs Henderson Presents), Janie Dee (Hand To God) and Imelda Staunton (Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) who return to their original Follies theatre before it’s demolished. They drink, they sing, they reminisce about what was and what could have been.

Hamlet – Gyles Brandreth, his son Benet and his daughter-in-law Kosha Engler all appear together in Hamlet at the Park Theatre. It’s a tense family affair for the Danish prince and the betrayal that swirls around his father’s death.

Jesus Christ Superstar – Following the show’s incredible success last year, Jesus Christ Superstar returns to the Open Air Theatre with Olivier Award-winner Tyrone Huntley reprising his role of Judas.

King Lear – The tale of Shakespeare’s troubled King comes back to the Globe Theatre. King Lear is an emotional story of a misguided leader attempting to create a legacy but instead discovers his own humanity.

Loot – Joe Orton’s black comedy Loot is a hilarious look at two desperate bank robbers as they attempt to hide their stash in a coffin. A psychopathic policeman, a gold-digging nurse and a grieving widower are getting in the way of their genius plan.

Much Ado About Nothing – Infused with Latin music and Summer heat, warring almost-lovers Benedick and Beatrice hit the stage in a whirlwind in Much Ado About Nothing at the Globe Theatre.

Outlaws to In-Laws – The world premiere of 7 new short plays by leading gay writers, set from the 1950s to the present day exploring gay lives. Tracking rapidly changing social history from intolerance, violence and hate to the legalisation of homosexuality and gay marriage, Outlaws To In-Laws is a varied look at the gay experience – see it at the King’s Head Theatre.
