In a pre-coronavirus world, the Olivier Awards would have taken place on Sunday night, but alas, this was a year without an official ceremony. The winners will be announced in the fall (and you can see the list of this year’s nominees here), but we wanted take this time to celebrate the awards and all the things that make the West End and theater great.

So we’re throwing it back to our favourite Olivier performances throughout the years. From Adrienne Warren melting the stage as Tina Turner to Lin-Manuel Miranda’s “In the Heights,” here are some of our top moments from past ceremonies.

The 2020 Olivier Awards will now take place on October 25.

Sharon D. Clarke in “Caroline, Or Change” (2019)
Sharon D. Clarke’s belting alone in this performance from the 2019 Oliviers will make you understand why she won the best actress award that year. While this production of Jeanine Tesori and Tony Kushner’s musical was delayed due to the Broadway shutdown, you’ll be able to catch her onstage in New York in the fall.

Adrienne Warren in “Tina: The Tina Turner Musical” (2019)
Adrienne Warren’s voice will (literally) blow you away as she sings Tina Turner’s groundbreaking hit “River Deep, Mountain High.” The production is still playing in the West End, and Warren is leading the cast on Broadway, where you can catch her again as soon as theaters reopen.

Sheila Atim in “Girl From the North Country” (2018)
Just like Bob Dylan’s music, this cast recording will never grow old, and Sheila Atim’s version of “Tight Connection to My Heart” is a primary reason why. Watch this heartbreaking performance, and check out the show on Broadway when theaters are back up and running.

Amber Riley in “Dreamgirls” (2017)
Riley first performed this iconic star in her breakout role on “Glee,” but she took Effie White in “Dreamgirls” to a whole new level when she starred in “Dreamgirls.” There’s no questioning Riley’s Olivier Award win after watching this show-stopping performance.

Imelda Staunton in “Gypsy” (2016)
We cannot wait for Imelda Staunton to grace the West End stage later this year as she headlines “Hello, Dolly!” While we’re waiting, we’ll just be watching her Olivier Award-winning performance as Mama Rose in her rendition of “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.” We could all use a little more Mama Rose and Imelda Staunton right now.

“In The Heights” (2016)
While we’re disappointed that the “In the Heights” movie has been delayed due to coronavirus, we’re happy that we can still go back and watch the West End company’s performance from the 2016 Oliviers. The production was nominated for four awards, and you can watch the cast perform the electric “96,000” from the broadcast.

Billy Elliot” (2015)
“Billy Elliot” is one of our absolute faves, and the moving 11 o’clock number “Electricity” never loses its spark. We all know what it feels like to have a dream and follow it, and Bill is the ultimate inspiration. We’re not crying, you are!
